History Of Business Administration Education

Business administration school is a university-level institution that educates learners on such topics as accounting, finance, marketing, organizational behavior, strategy planning, and quantitative methods. Most business administration schools have experienced well-qualified faculties, and efficient managements. In 1881, the first 'collegiate business school' was founded in Wharton.

Business Schools before World War II were mostly "schools of commerce" and were conducted in relatively low esteem. After the Second World War and especially after 1960, Business Administration Schools began to grow rapidly. They are often known as university graduate schools. MBA degrees originally occurred in the United States of America, due to the fast industrialization growth that made it essential for companies to use scientific approaches to teach management. The first MBA degree was offered by Dartmouth College in 1900. Business schools have mushroomed and flourished in all states and countries thus, making them feasible for individuals who work during the day to take classes and earn degrees at night.

Since 1988, business schools have changed deans, altered curriculums, and stressed new expertise among their students. A MBA degree has opened abundant opportunities for its bearers. Presently, nearly all business positions require an MBA degree as the minimum qualification. This includes business managers in marketing, finance, human resources, operations, and information technology. Investment entities, banking companies and a number of management consulting firms prefer employing MBA graduates specializing in the field of finance. These graduates are well conversant in their respective fields. For industries such as media and entertainment, an MBA is not a necessity, but it is considered an additional asset.

There are wide ranges of options among the different academic institutions that offer business courses. Various sites are available wherein detailed information about all the specialization fields are mentioned along with their course details. These sites also offer information regarding the universities that are well qualified and offer competent MBA programs.

Business Card for Education Consultant - Helping Others to Learn By Learning About You

As an educational consultant, your primary goal is to assist as many educational instructors and facilities as to how they can maximize their abilities to teach students how to learn the best. However, it can be difficult to earn the respect and acknowledgement for your skills without some way to prove you're a valid professional in the field of education. A business card for education consultant professionals can go far, especially if you are seeking to establish yourself in a local community among educational professionals as being the best in your field.

What Can a Simple Card Do For You?

While there is a common misconception that a consulting business card doesn't speak to the person that you are, and is something that just about anyone can have, this is not true. Just think, when introducing yourself to a principal of the local elementary school, you will appear entirely unprofessional and perhaps less credible if you do not introduce yourself with professional educational business cards that reflect your dedication to your role. With professional business cards you can tell the educator who you are, what your specialty is and how to find you easily. Any quality educator will then have your card accessible for times when perhaps your assistance is needed.

Creating an Education Consultant Professional Card

The best part about creating a business card for education consultant professionals is that it is simple and quick. If you are planning on designing your own card, then it is suggested that you download some free software that will offer you a variety of business card designs free. With these programs you can choose a template with which you can then build your card from, or you can create and design your own based on what you feel will represent your profession.

Once you have completed your design, you want to be sure that the printing quality of your of them is superb, therefore it is always a good idea to send your digital education business card to a printing company that specializes in their creation. From that point your digital card will be printed on the finest quality paper, with the richest colors and even the finish that you wish your cards to have. Everything that is in your designs will be communicated into your actual professional card, and your set will be mailed back to you in just a short matter of time. While this process may seem expensive, most professionals are thoroughly pleased to know that cheap cards are available with the right printing company. Using a printing company makes the process simple and quick, but more importantly, it ensures that your cards are always going to appear professional and of quality.

Whether you are new to the profession or are merely attempting to market your consultant services in a better fashion, having a business card for education consultant professionals is important, especially if you want people to know that you take the education of all students seriously.

Expanding Your Business Expertise Through Continuing Education

We can all admit that keeping up with business trends can be quite difficult. As new industry developments are made, business professionals are increasingly faced with the need to complement their trade experience with modern-day expertise.

Luckily, staying on the cusp of change isn't as scary as it sounds. An easy and extremely rewarding way to boost up your business knowledge is by enrolling in a Continuing Education Business program. These programs can contribute to your academic repertoire without obliging you to a full-length degree program. By way of gaining new industry-specific knowledge, you will acquire a firmer grip on your current or prospective position, making you a savvy contender within your field.

If you're worried that you just won't be able to fit academia into your schedule, rest assured that most Continuing Education programs are designed so that you can. Two common misconceptions are that all higher-education programs require a full-time commitment and that the bulk of courses are only offered during the day. Neither of these is true. Most of these programs are offered by local colleges or universities, and sometimes include the option of distance or online learning, which gives you the luxury of completing courses from the comfort of your own home. This can be very convenient for people with heavy day-schedules or for those who are required to travel a lot for work. In cases where courses are not offered through distance or online learning options, there will typically be a night class option to enroll in.

Also, don't be fooled into thinking that continuing education is strictly geared towards professionals who already have a degree and decades of experience under their belt. The courses and programs offered are ideal for novice professionals who are just entering the business game, as well as field experts who simply want to increase their knowledge bank.

Even better, is that the programs span across a wide range of business fields. Business programs tend to be industry-specific, and include focused certificate or diploma programs within the general domains, including:

Accounting and Financial
Business Computers
Business Studies
Labor Studies
Leadership and Management
Office Skills

These domains touch on virtually every role within the business trade. So, whether you're a CEO seeking new ways to motivate and lead your team, or an administrator trying to find new and efficient ways to run an enterprise, there will likely be a business course that will focus on your specific professional goals.

The true philosophy behind the entire Continuing Education platform is that knowledge is a never-ending pursuit. Not only will a Business certificate or diploma ensure that you maintain a strong and steady career, but it will also encourage you to seek knowledge for your own personal growth.

How to Write an Education Business Proposal

Do you have an idea for a new educational program or service? Maybe you want to apply for a government grant for an after-school program for middle school kids, organize a private high school, or develop a network of tutors for hire.

How are you going to get the money you need and explain your ideas to the influential people who can make it happen? The best way is to master the art of writing a proposal.

If you are replying to an RFP (Request for Proposal) or applying for a specific grant, you need to follow any instructions specified in the RFP or grant application as precisely as possible. An RFP response typically requires combining government agency forms with topics you need to write from scratch - based on what the RFP asks you talk about.

All proposals follow a basic structure: introduction, the recipient/client-oriented section, the description of proposed goods and/or services, and then the proposal writer/supplier-oriented section. The content of each section will vary from one proposal to the next, but this sequence of sections should stay the same.

Let's break down those sections further. The introduction section is the shortest. The very first thing you'll want for your proposal is a Cover Letter. A Cover Letter should be brief, and it should contain the following four elements: a brief explanation of who you are, a statement about why you are submitting this proposal at this time, a statement of what you want the reader to do after reading your proposal--call for a meeting, sign the contract, etc., and all your contact information so the reader can easily call you with questions or to accept your proposal.

The very first page of your proposal package should be a Title Page--just name your proposal something appropriate, like "Advanced Science Seminars Offered for the Jacobi School Gifted Program" or "Proposal to Create a New Charter School in the West Valley School District." Next, if your proposal is long and detailed, you may want an Executive Summary or Client Summary Page, which is a summation of the most important points you want to make, and a Table of Contents to help readers easily see the contents and navigate through the proposal. That's all for the introduction section.

The next section should be focused on the proposal recipient or client. Depending on what you are proposing, the readers you want to target might be members of a grant committee, potential students, parents of students, teachers, school administrators, a loan committee, or a governmental organization. It's important to consider them carefully, and tailor your information to them. What do they want to know? What concerns might thdy have? Are there scheduling or budget restrictions? At the very least, this client-oriented section should have a Requirements page that summarizes what they have asked for, or what you believe they need. You may also want pages like Schedule, Deadlines, Limitations, Budget, Goals, Considerations, Special Needs, and so forth, to describe in detail your understanding of what the client needs. This is not yet the time to brag about your proposed program or your organization. Keep this section focused on information about what the client wants or needs.

The next section is a description of your ideas. Be sure to match them up with the previous section, explaining how you can address the client's needs, how the client will benefit from your proposed program, and what your proposal will cost to implement. Don't use generic sales jargon. Instead, be as specific as possible about what you plan to do. This section could contain a wide variety of topic pages, like Classes, Equipment, Schedule, Staff, Venues, Tutoring, Testing, Mentoring, Evaluation, and so forth--you'll include whatever you need to thoroughly describe your proposal. At a bare minimum, you'll want a Services Offered, Benefits, and a Cost Summary page in this section.

After you have thoroughly described what you want to do and how much it will cost, it's time to tell the proposal readers all about you in the final section. What makes you or your organization qualified to take on this job? It's not enough to simply say "I can do it" or boast about how smart you are. Keep in mind that it's always best to provide evidence or testimonials from other parties than to do your own bragging. Do you have special Training, Certifications, or Education? Do you have an extensive Company History, a long list of Clients, or years of Experience in the field? Have you won Awards? Do you have Testimonials or Case Studies to offer to show how you have been successful in the past? Include any information that helps persuade the clients that you have the knowledge and professionalism to carry out your proposal promises.

At this point, you will have completed the first draft of your proposal. Congratulations! Now for the finishing touches. Have a qualified proofreader or editor read through your draft and fix any grammatical or spelling errors. It's always best to enlist someone who is not familiar with your ideas to do this. That person is much more likely to catch errors and ask important questions than someone who knows your proposal well. It would be especially embarrassing to submit an error-ridden proposal for an education project, wouldn't it?

After the words are perfect, make sure each page looks good, too. You might want to use visual details like splashes of color in titles or special bullet points to add interest, but keep the overall look professional.

Five Major Business Trends That Will Impact Education and the Emerging Job Market

Baby Boomers Come of Age

Baby boomers are a huge demographic headed for retirement. The main element that separates this Baby Boomer generation from older generations is their attention to health issues and the length of time they have spent in the job market.

As generations grow older, there will be a greater need for specialized health care. Other areas that are likely to be impacted by the coming-of-age Baby Boomers include such industries as assisted living and social working.

Increasingly Effective Medicine

Innovations in the medical field along with the robust output of the pharmaceutical industry will help people to live longer; while maintaining the productivity of their lives. There are a growing number of adults who expect to work beyond the traditional normal retirement age. This trend will both demand and require a whole new generation of health care professionals and specialists that will be a major asset in helping to prolong the quality and vibrancy of life.

An Increased Need for Child Care Services

For people who work hard to maintain a certain standard of living, the need for high quality childcare services has resulted in a market place response with a variety of programs, such as pre-kindergarten educational programs that require highly trained educators. Traditionally a lower paying profession, childcare service is slowly becoming a more lucrative and stable career destination for many people. These educators are positioned to demand higher salaries than their predecessors.

Technology on the Move

There is never a shortage of ideas, and the fact that many American companies look to overseas for technology solutions should have no major impact on US technology professionals who have the skills and knowledge to effect upgrades and repairs. The world is competitive, and companies will continually need to provide their teams with competitive equipment and industry resources. IT, electrical, and cable Infrastructures will need to be updated on a continual basis.

IT professionals who have training and skills in networking and support should experience stable demand as companies come of age through the need to be and remain competitive on an on-going basis.

The Distribution of Work

The Distribution of work will continue to be a main impetus for the development of increasingly effective information networks. The term "hot desking" will become more familiar as consultants and business professionals continue to divide their time among diverse locations

Education - Combining Business With Pleasure

Business growth is often dependent on the application of time, effort and education. The application of time and the patience is the part many of us have the most trouble with. Effort is often the easy part! But what about education? Where do we find the right information to help our businesses grow.

Many of us think of education in a limited context. We might take bookkeeping courses, business management courses or even industry specific type workshops and seminars. What we may not consider, is just learning something different. Yes, do something unrelated. Take a course in something that catches your interest that has nothing to do with your business.

This is the best way that I know to challenge ourselves to grow and in the end provides a change of scenery that often gives us inspiration and outside input into what we do. In fact it is the first step to thinking outside the box. Who would even consider that a basket weaving course could help with out printing business, or that joining a running club would give us inspiration for a mortgage business!

Doing something unrelated to your business does three things. It provides us with balance in out lives. It introduces us to new and diverse contacts. And finally it provides a bit of pressure release from the daily grind, gives us something different to think about and concentrate on. All three of these things can grow our business.

Last week I happened past an open door, an opportunity, to take a ski instructors course. I thought, "Why not? I love to ski, I love to teach...maybe this will get me out of the office on the weekend and provide a little balance in my life." And so I took a leap and decided it was time for me to stretch. Three days into the course I experienced the 'what did I do this for?' feeling. And by the end of the fourth day, I was ready to quit. But on the fifth morning, I got up and my muscles felt better, and my brain was finally beginning to put together all the bits an pieces of information that until that point were like unrelated puzzle pieces. My confidence began to grow. And once again I realized, effort, time and commitment could pay off.

These kinds of experiences help to build our confidence and raise our endurance level. It also helps teach us to take risks. We begin to realize that our fears are often unfounded and based on lack of information and understanding. Further benefits include learning to deal with frustrations and forces us to deal with people other than those we may come in contact with every day. We not only learn new tasks and exercises, we learn more about people and people skills.

Next time you are feeling a little uninspired or worn out, consider doing something a little different. Try something new. Have some fun and learn to laugh. Understand that all work and no play can make you a very dull person. You will be surprised at what you learn and how that can help you grow and consequently you can apply some new growth concepts to your business!

Business Movies - Education Through Entertainment

Entertainment can collaborate with business to present itself in multidimensional learning experience. This piece enlists documentaries as well the commercial films that have links to the real world events.

The Ascent of Money: The Financial History of the World

Rogue Trader

Based on the book Rogue Trader: How I Brought Down Barings Bank and Shook the Financial World by Nick Leeson, is a drama film based on the 1995 collapse of Barings Bank. The movie follows Leeson's rise as he soon becomes one of Barings' key traders. However, everything isn't as it appears, he gets into trades with huge leverage eventually leading to losses amounting to well over £800 million. This case of barring bank frequently appears in derivative trading lessons.

Business Degrees Are Perfectly Suited For Distance Education Students

When choosing a degree or field to study through online learning, you need to consider a number of things including not only which courses will fit your character, interests, strengths and passion in life but also which courses offer you a wider opportunity to land a great job when you graduate. If you are interested in joining the corporate world then a business degree can open the door to a wide range of opportunities. Another thing to consider is how suited the course is to online learning.

A bachelor of business and other business related fields are well suited to distance education as they have a lot of theoretical content that can be learnt over the internet. Most of the coursework can be learnt from textbooks or online resources, lectures and tutorials can be viewed online, discussions can be had through webinars or videoconferencing so that you get an equivalent learning experience as you would if you actually attended the events in person. Business degrees do not have a high percentage of actual hands on learning so they are perfectly suited to distance education.

Some courses are not as well suited to this style of education and they usually have a high degree skills that need to be learnt in person. Courses not as well suited include nursing or medicine where there is a lot more practical, hands on experience needed. Another factor adding to the popularity of online business degrees is the flexibility it provides which lets you to work around personal responsibilities that would normally prevent people from attending a conventional college. This flexibility and being able to study off campus is a great advantage to anyone who is struggling to manage their time between family or work responsibilities and college. You have the ability to plan your study timetable to suit you and can study right at the comfort of your home or virtually anywhere you want! However, enrolling in a business degree online is just the beginning of your journey.

To be successful you will need to be disciplined, self motivated and determined. To help with this you should have a good understanding of your goals. Where do you want to work once you graduate? How long do you intend to finish your online studies (do you plan to take a fulltime course? Or do you want to spread it out at a more relaxed pace)? It is advised to jot down your academic goals so that you are continually reminded why you are doing it and so that at end of every semester you will be able to evaluate how you are progressing. You can evaluate if you are meeting your short-term goals as well as be able to plot your long-term goals and timeframes.

Many online students know the importance of setting a study schedule especially those who have kids around the house. It is a great advantage for anyone to be able to study without going to a physical university but it does take a lot of self-discipline in order to achieve your goals. One of the factors why online students fail in their studies is because they have poor time management. Choose a time and day to do your coursework where distractions at home are at a minimum. For example, if your kids are in school during daytime you should set your study time when they are at school so you won't be distracted. A syllabus will be given to you online by your professor and it is imperative that you take note of important information such as your instructors email address, his phone number etc. Also, keep a calendar near your desk where you can mark all important dates for scheduled tests and schedule of submission for projects and homework.

A Culture Chasm: Education and Business

Why is there such a chasm between academia and the business world to address the organizational culture phenomena? The following article covers 3 main points relative to organizational culture. First, organizational culture is defined and put into context for better reader perspective. Second, the contextual problem facing business schools along with the disconnect between internal organizational culture and what is actually taught to graduates. Third, the solution that focuses on internal dynamics at the business school, borrowing academia research and business world practice. Ultimately, once internal organizational strategy is bridged with the classroom strategy, graduates move on to incubate more prosperous entities and shunt the growing trend of health cost drivers.

Organizational culture: It's not a new idea in business schools or in enterprise. lowly but surely researchers and industry experts alike are putting together a mounting body of evidence on the importance of organizational culture. Organizational culture is not simply about managing a healthcare trend, productivity indicator, injury trend or insurance premium cost drivers or touchy feely things. Organizational culture refers to the overall leadership quality and impact on the workforce, surrounding community and connection between workforce job duties and company mission. Ask yourself: Is worksite wellness and organizational culture written (formally or informally) into the mission statement of the company? Are managers supporting workers appropriately? How does the workforce perceive the company culture and the support from the manager? How do you know the answer to any of these questions? In 2002 Accenture and Wirthlin Worldwide, found that 35% of the companies surveyed said the workforce neither knew the company strategy, nor knew how their day-to-day responsibilities aligned with the strategy. While businesses must address their own problems with people strategy and organizational culture, I'm convinced that one of the roots of the problem exists in colleges and universities.

A workforce that understands the organizational mission and perceives their company's culture to be largely supportive will be more productive than their peers at a competing company. A supported workforce will also demonstrate a stronger sense of connection to the company, the company mission, and how each individual job responsibility is tied into the company mission. According to a Gallup survey, at least 22 million American workers are extremely negative or "actively disengaged" - this loss of productivity is estimated to be worth $250-$300 billion annually. Are business schools insulated? Of course the answer is no.

Since the first MBA program started between 1900 and 1908 (depending on whether you give credit to Harvard University or Dartmouth College), business schools have likely not demonstrated the same environmental enterprise knowledge they teach their graduates about organizational culture, productivity and communications. Schools are naturally good at reacting to what the consumer wants. Good business move, but they don't graduate leaders adept at building organizational culture, nor are they themselves great examples of organizational culture. Just doing a quick search of US and International business schools' courses, I found a number of courses covering organizational culture and case studies dating back over 30 years. So why is the news of a curriculum change at Haas School of Business at the University of California-Berkeley (Haas) so revolutionary?

The problem: Business schools aren't practicing what they preach, or maybe they're preaching the wrong strategy. According to Robert Kaplan and David Norton, developers of the Balanced Scorecard, 95% of a company's employees are unaware of, or do not understand, its strategy. If the course work is in place and case studies available to provide evidence that organizational culture is a foundation to build a lasting business, why have business schools not acted similarly? Why have so many business leaders treated organizational culture as a line item of employee benefits? This leads me to believe that either the world of Business School education is flat or the navigational instruments need calibrating for the 21st century. Either way the proverbial ship that incubates leadership and innovation is traveling aimlessly at sea. The single most important foundational point to correct course is to learn, teach, live and support organizational culture.

Again, while business schools are accommodating consumer's requests for shorter, intensive programs in order to return to work quicker and offering seminar driven learning and even specialty degrees in executive management, few are looking at their own philosophy of organizational culture and how it translates into developing leaders and thinkers who will then cultivate their own organizational culture. However, a couple of institutions seem to be trending along the paradigm shift of course correction. Haas School of Business recently announced a new curriculum that focuses the business school's attention on organizational culture and the Columbia Business School (CBS) which utilizes lecturers with Indian background and philosophy to teach some of its courses. In general, Indian philosophy stresses controllable actions and processes instead of focusing solely on outcomes that are not within our control. Interesting side note: these two institutions also have a joint Executive MBA programs (EMBA). Since they both have similar outlooks and mission, it's no wonder they've partnered.

Are There Degrees Other Than Education and Business That You Can Get Online?

It is certainly true that the vast amount of degree programs that you see advertised for online education are going to be made up by and large of things like education, business, technology, and nursing. These are some of the most common careers for people to want to go into. As such, they are some of the most common degree programs, so it makes fiscal sense for universities to offer them online. However, as more and more universities expand their online course offerings, it is becoming possible to complete online degrees in more and more disciplines that were once restricted solely to physical campuses. A perfect example of this is the online history degree.

There are now many different online schools that are offering an online history degree, so it is not like this is a special offering restricted to a single school. This might not seem like a career oriented type of degree, but there are some careers that you can easily get into through a history degree. In addition, there are many people who choose to take further education as a means of improving themselves as much as for any other reason.

If you're interested in an online history degree, you might already have a Bachelor's degree. The good news is that there are also a variety of different programs out there that are offering masters degrees in history over the internet. These obviously demand a more intense level of study, and they will require that you have a Bachelor's degree in history or a related discipline before beginning, but they can help greatly in building your reputation as a serious historian.

Make no mistake about it; there is work out there for those that want to pursue an online history degree. Many of the individuals that are interested in this field end up working for cultural institutions or organizations related to their area of interest. Also, many also go on to write in the field based on their personal interests. For people who are interested in writing, taking your studies further, such as to the Masters or even PhD level, can be beneficial. The more impressive looking your credentials, the easier it can be to obtain a book contract at times. Getting those higher degrees also opens up doors for a career as a professor at a college or University if that is a career path they are interested in exploring.

Online Business Education - 5 Easy Steps To Recording Slideshow Presentation Using Ink2Go

In this online business education article you will learn the 5 easy steps to recording your slideshow presentation using Ink2Go screen recording software from EyePowerGames.

Getting Started With Ink2Go

When getting started with Ink2Go screen recording software, you need to ensure that the mouse cursor is selected on the Ink2Go toolbar. Next, open your slideshow presentation and begin the slideshow, so that the first slide appears on your screen.

There Are 5 Easy Steps To Remember When Recording Your Slideshow Presentation:

1. Select The Region Of The Screen

Once you have your slideshow presentation ready to begin, click on the "select a region" icon (the yellow rectangle) which is the second icon from the right on your Ink2Go toolbar. Next, drag the box out around the slide of your slideshow presentation. This ensures that the screen recording software will only record the region of the screen you have selected. This is extremely useful, as you can cut out anything else on your screen you do not wish to record.

2. Turn Off The Record Mouse Option

For the purposes of recording a slideshow presentation, you do not want your mouse movements to be recorded, so you will need to turn off the record mouse option. To do this, right click with your mouse on the Ink2Go icon showing at the bottom of your screen and then uncheck "Record Mouse" by clicking on it.

3. Hide The Ink2Go Toolbar Before Recording

You will need to minimize the toolbar before you begin recording your screen, so that it does not appear in your video. Click on the white dash in the top right corner of the toolbar and this will hide the toolbar and move it to the side of your screen.

4. Press F7 To Start And Stop Recording

To begin recording your slideshow presentation, use the shortcut F7. You will then be prompted to select a location to save your video and name it. Once you have clicked on "Save" your recording will start, so be prepared!

Use your microphone to record your voice as you read through your presentation, changing the captions and slides as you go. Press F7 again to stop the recording.

Remember to SMILE and sound ANIMATED while you record your voice over.

This final step will make all the difference to your video, as smiling and delivering your presentation in an upbeat and enthusiastic tone will keep your viewers attention and encourage them to watch more of your videos.

Why Business Leaders Need Executive Education

While many people dream of owning or running a business, they do not dream of the hiccups and problems they may encounter along the way. These issues often come in the form of employee conflicts, challenges in staff training and how to be an effective executive. Many people learn these skills as they develop their businesses, but savvy business leaders take the time to gain professional training. Taking the time to learn about the fundamentals of effective leadership can help a company grow and become more successful. Classes are available through executive education and leadership programs at local universities.

Every industry changes and grows, and every business needs to learn how to keep up with the competition and even surpass it. Executive education programs help the management and leaders at the top to build a better understanding of how their company is run, what its strengths and weaknesses are and how they can manage it better.
